Omar is an Investment & Operations Manager at the Global Innovation Fund, based in the London office. He brings over 15 years of multidisciplinary experience spanning venture capital, economic policy and entrepreneurship across the UK and Sub-Saharan Africa. Prior to joining GIF, he founded a boutique advisory firm, where he supported early-stage African startups to raise capital and also worked with a range of venture funds and angel networks, sourcing and assessing investment opportunities.
Earlier in his career, Omar held senior roles as an Economic Advisor within the UK Civil Service and gained international experience as an ODI Fellow in Namibia and as a Project Manager in Sierra Leone.
He holds an MSc in Development Economics from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and a BSc in Economics from the University of Barcelona.
