Kanini Mutooni is a Senior Managing Director and Africa Director at the Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation (DRK) where she plays a lead role in sourcing new investments and working with them as they build capacity and achieve impact at scale. As a member of the senior leadership team, she also helps execute strategy and goals, contributing to thought leadership and external outreach for the African continent from the DRK office in Nairobi.
Kanini’s previous roles include serving as MD for Toniic, the global action network for impact investors, as Director for Investment at the East Africa Trade and Investment Hub, and working in leadership positions at investment banks including Bank of America-Merrill Lynch and Dresdner Kleinwort Benson. She is also a board member at MCE Social Capital, and a board advisor for the United Nations Capital Development Fund.
Recognised in 2014 as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, Kanini continues to provide strategic advisory support to several Africa- focused impact funds. She is a visiting lecturer at the University of Capetown’s Bertha Center for Social Innovation.
