Darren Welch is Director of Policy at the Department for International Development (DFID) and has a variety of experience in policy formulation, co-ordination and communication, especially in the field of development and international relations.
Prior to his current role, Darren held other positions at DFID, including Director of Strategy; Head of the Migration & Modern Slavery Department; Deputy Director of Syrian Refugee Resettlement; and Head of DFID Tanzania.
In a previous role at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office Darren was responsible for promoting an EU trade agenda, including for the EU-US and EU-Japan trade negotiations.
Darren has also held senior management positions in global consulting organisation DAI, working on governance and economic reform.
Darren holds a Bachelors degree in Foreign Languages & Literatures, and a Masters in Public Administration.
